The pair, who jointly own building company Powerhouse Property Services, felt compelled to act after hearing of the blaze which claimed the lives of more than 50 dogs.
Work to rebuild the centre started in September, after Aydee and Danny’s offer to head the project was accepted by the trustees of Manchester Dogs’ Home.
Aydee and Danny are also calling on other traders to join them in using their skills to rebuild the rescue home.
Within hours of setting up a Facebook page to co-ordinate their efforts, they were contacted by about 50 other traders, including electricians, plumbers and plasterers.
Danny, 27 , said: “We are both dog lovers and the home is a charity that doesn’t have the sort of money to rebuild, so we thought we’d offer labour for free. We’re hoping as many people as possible will join us on the rebuild.”
Aydee, 33, added: “We don’t want the charity to be shut down by a mindless act like this. That’s why we wanted to do something about it.”
