A loyal dog stayed by her pal's side for a WEEK after she got trapped in a ravine.
Bassett hound Phoebe and setter mix Tillie went missing from their home in Washington State, US, on September 8.
Appeals by the worried owners were unsuccessful until residents near some woodland saw a reddish dog approach them and then head off down to ravine to sit by the side of its fellow canine which was trapped on an old concrete cistern.
The sighting was reported to Vashon Island Pet Protectors (VIPP) volunteers who searched the area.
The group had been posting messages on its Facebook page in an effort track down the duo.
A post after the rescue states: "With a needle in the haystack hope we made our way into the ravine and after a bit of searching, finally heard that sweet sound we have been waiting for all week. A small one-woof response when we called out.
"For nearly a week Tillie stayed by her side with the exception of the few minutes of each day when she went for help.
"A true friend and a humbling example of the power of love.”
Volunteer Amy Carey said: "My message to most people with missing dogs is that unless the dog is being seen periodically, it is likely stuck somewhere.
"That's where the amazing Miss Tillie steps in as the heroine of this story.
"Not sure Phoebe would have ever been found without her as they were miles from the last place spotted.
The pair have now been reunited with their owners.
